David GERSTEIN

BORN 1944

Born in Jerusalem, David Gerstein is a renowned Pop artist representing Israel. Following the path of Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, and David Hockney, Gerstein has created his own personal post-pop art style.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“The forms and colors in my work are my way of communicating. Those who taste the fruit will discover that it is not only beautiful, but also replete with vitamins.”

BIOGRAPHY

Education

  • 1973-74 Post graduate studies at St. Martin's School of Art, London, UK
  • 1968-70 Studied at the Arts Students League, New York, USA
  • 1966-68 Studied at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts, Paris, France
  • 1965-66 Studied at the Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem, Israel

Career

1971-85 Senior Lecturer at the Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem
