Art Care Tip

The following pages contain information for ensuring your artwork will remain in good condition for as long as possible.

HANDLING & STORAGE

When handling your artwork we recommend using clean cotton gloves. It is important not to touch the surface of artwork directly as oils and dirt from your hands can damage the artwork in the longer term. If you’d like to store the artwork for a long time, we advise you keep it in the original Moon Art & Masters packaging.

FRAMING & HANGING

It is encouraged to frame artworks to protect them from any damages and be appreciated for long time. Please care for your framed work with caution and only clean with a dry cloth on the moulding and soft cloth and Plexiglas cleaner on the glass surface.

If you bought your artwork including framing, your frame has a cord or hook(s) attached to the frame. You can consider it safe to hang using the cord or the hook(s). Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions about how to hang or install your artwork. We provide professional framing service upon request. Please find the details on Shipping and Framing page.

LIGHTING

Too much direct light can lead to discoloration and distortion. Artworks should not be hung in direct sunlight, and artificial light can also be harmful, especially halogen lights and direct spotlights. Lights near the top of the picture frame can heat the work and cause discoloration or crack. We recommend that artificial lights are kept at an absolute minimum distance of 12”/ 30 cm from any artwork surface.

HUMIDITY & HEAT

Artworks will be affected by overly humid conditions and will be damaged by water, potentially causing an uneven surface and discoloration. Please avoid installing your artwork in wet areas such as kitchen or restroom. Also, intense heat can affect both the color and texture of artworks, so make sure your piece is not displayed in close proximity to any heated surfaces. The ideal humidity to store artwork is 50%±3% with a temperature between 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit (21- 24 degrees Celsius).

UV GLAZING

Artworks are particularly vulnerable to light’s adverse effects (UV rays). UV-blocking acrylic Plexi prevents color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. Our framing service offers Plexi glazing, as it is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
